Kejin Rai has been elected as the president of the Federation of Nepalese Journalists Europe

Europe: The fifth session of the European branch of the Federation of Nepalese Journalists unanimously elected Kejin Rai as the president.



Vice- president Rajkumar Thapa, Dilnishani Magar, Dron Rizal, Basu Satyal, Prem Pomu, General Secretary Sher Bahadur Pariyar, Secretary Kalash Kharel, Bharat Pradhan, Ashim Lopchan, Secretary Mahindo Waiwa, Rameshraj Banstola, Dinesh Gautam (Cyprus) Elected unanimously. Indira Chamling has been elected as the treasurer.

Similarly, the members are Bhola Lamichhane (Spain), YB Gurung (Denmark), Kamal Parajuli (Spain), Kishore Subba (Portugal), Sanju Kaucha (Finland), Deepak Bhandari (Portugal), Binod Adhikari (Croatia), Deepak Khatiwada (Portugal), Jasaman Darnal (Germany), Prakash Bagale (Malta), Pustak Regmi (Portugal), Lakpa Tenji Sherpa (Romania), Dhanraj Bc (Malta), Janak Baral (Belgium), Nabaraj Dawadi (Portugal), Senchhelung Patangwa (Germany), Balram Rai (Portugal), Kamal Panthi (Hungary), Madhav Pokharel (Italy), Ghanshyam Gautam (Spain), Subhash Chamling (Belgium), Tulsa Ghimire (Portugal), Sarmila Gurung Thakuri (Portugal), Amrita Rai (Romania), Mani Tamu.



Inaugurating the conference held on Wednesday in the chief hospitality of Nepal Journalist Federation Central President Bipul Pokharel, he said that 'if the Federation is strong and united, we will be stronger and we can fight against any adversity.

Naresh Khapangi Magar, the central representative appointed by the Journalist Federation, and Srujana Aryal, the Central Secretary of the Journalist Federation, and the election committee consisting of central members Sunil Khadka, Ramesh Khatiwada, Sarita Baraili, kc Lamichhane and Rinku Kumari Mishra completed the process of selecting the new working committee and completed the closed session.


The program was chaired by Prem Pariyar, conducted by Drona Rizal and welcome speech by Rajkumar Thapa.


The convention also passed 10 point resolutions:-


1) We are determined to cooperate and coordinate with Nepali embassies, diplomatic bodies, various social organizations, non-resident Nepali associations, various political, social, regional, ethnic, linguistic organizations in Europe to protect the rights and interests of Nepal and Nepali people. This convention appeals to all parties concerned to maintain proper respect and dignity of press freedom, journalism and journalists.


2) This convention demands that the branches of the Federation of Nepalese Journalists active in the diaspora be recognized as branches of Nepal and that the members who are diaspora can also vote in the Central General Assembly and that the journalists who are diaspora also be represented in the Central Committee of the Federation.


3) This conference expresses its commitment to continuously conduct training and other capacity building activities for enhancing the capacity of journalists in Europe and for the rights and professional security of journalists in Europe.

4) This convention warns the relevant bodies and individuals for the professional safety of working journalists.

5) We request the government of Nepal to immediately implement the special relief package for the media and journalists. This convention also demands to support and promote self-employed media, as well as to start proportionate distribution of advertisements and to provide timely payment for public welfare advertisements provided to self-employed media.

6) This convention calls upon all journalists to do responsible and dignified journalism in full compliance with journalistic code of conduct.

7) This convention demands that the purging of members of the Nepal Journalist Federation be effectively implemented in accordance with the provisions of the statute.

8) This convention strongly demands the government of Nepal not to make any kind of policies, laws, laws and regulations and not to issue guidelines, to protect and ensure the freedom of the press, the right to information and the freedom of expression of citizens.


9) Since the problem of Nepalis staying illegally in Europe without being able to renew their passports is becoming very complicated, this convention strongly demands the Nepal government to send a passport renewal team to European countries without delay.

Elected Rai has said that by making new media and digital technology friendly, he has taken responsibility again with the opportunity and challenge of handing over responsibility to the new generation from the sixth convention.
