NIFF announces its date for the festival

Nepal: Organised annually by Nepal Film and Cultural Academy since 2018, Nepal International Film Festival (NIFF) has announced its date for this year's festival.

According to the organisers, the fifth iteration of the film festival will be held in Kathmandu from March 31 to April 4. From all of its submissions, NIFF will premier 81 movies, including short films, animations, documentaries, and feature films across its national and international competitions.

While the previous instalment was held virtually amidst the coronavirus pandemic, this year’s festival will be a hybrid one, said the organisers. Viewers can watch the movies online, and those interested in watching the movies in-person can also do so at Rastra Sabha Griha and Nepal Tourism Board halls.

“This year, we have 14 different categories for winners in both national and international competitions,” the organisers said in a press statement.

Besides film screenings, to incite more conversations around cinema and promote the exchange of diverse ideas, the festival has also planned many discussions programmes where distinguished guests from the film, media and entertainment sectors will speak.
