A pediatrician working at Hetauda Hospital, Dr. Raju Sedhai says that the infection may have been more prevalent in the child due to non-availability of vaccine.

In recent days, the highest incidence of infection has been reported in people in the age group of 21 to 40 years.Last Friday, more than 300 people in that age group were infected. Compared to the previous year, the number has now increased more than eight times daily to more than 2500.

Former Head of Epidemiology and Disease Control Division Dr. Vasudev Pandey says that the number of infections may be increasing due to Omicron variant.

He said: "We have not been able to collect the samples very well. This is a big wave at the community level in the last 10 days since the spread of the infection."

"Even though most people have the infection, it may not be due to a weakness in the test." "Looking at the experience of other countries, the number of infected people will increase in the coming weeks," he said.

Dr. Pandey adds, "Studies so far have shown that omicron can move easily. It causes infection in the upper part of the neck, and studies so far have shown that it does not affect the lower lungs."

"Because it affects only the respiratory tract and can infect both vaccinated people, the disease is still widespread until antibiotic antibodies are introduced naturally and are reduced to 40 to 50 percent in the community."
