"Binayo" Nepali folk instrument (introduction)

 Binayo

Binayo is a traditional Nepali instrument of the Kirants made from hidden Malingo. The bamboo is made by digging in the middle of a small bamboo grove of about six inches, removing the tongue, tying the thread on both sides and carving a beautiful pattern.

Binayo made in this way is played by shaking the long rope of the bar in front of the tongue. When playing in this way, to keep out various vakas, Binayo is placed on both the lips of the mouth and the vibration caused by the push of air from inside is affected by the tongue.

This baja is carried by a Kirant woman hanging on the tuna of her cholo. Binayo carried in this way is played everywhere in Melapat or Haat Bazaar. It is left to be made with two tongues in Binayo Baja.
